• Message from Mr White

  We have come to the end of a very busy and very successful year. The academy has grown in numbers, improved and enhanced its learning environment and achieved the first ever rating by Ofsted of good. This is due to the hard work and commitment of a very dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly to develop new teaching and learning strategies, support the wide needs of the pupils and create an exciting and enriching curriculum.

  I would like to thank them all on your behalf and wish them a relaxing and well earned summer break.

  On a personal note, I am pleased to be leaving the academy in such safe hands and know, under Mrs Rew's leadership, the improvements will continue and the children will flourish. As many of you know, I started my teaching career here in 1988 and I am proud to complete the full circle and spend my last day where I began in education. My first Headteacher taught me that it is ' never a normal day' and that has stuck with me throughout my time in schools.  Much has changed in that time but the children continue to amaze me in their resilience, desire to improve and ability to achieve the very best they can.

  I would like to thank all parents for their support, the children for their great enthusiasm and wiliness to learn and for the staff who are the number one asset any school has.

  I wish you all a wonderful break, good luck to our Year 6 children who start their new school and I look forward to hearing about the great future of St Leonards CE Primary Academy.

• House point winners

  Well done to Willow house for winning term 3 with 5610 points. They all enjoyed the house party this afternoon including some great games with Mr Maryan.

  The golden tickets are also filling up and the next draw will be just before Easter.

• 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas'

  We have finally managed to get our tree up as we move into the Christmas period.

  Thank you to the year 6 reindeers and the others who helped.

  I am pleased to see even our gingerbread men take COVID precautions.

  

• Children in Need

  Thank you to everyone who donated to Children in Need today and to the many children and staff who dressed up.

  I am pleased to say we raised over £320 for this very important charity.

  Enjoy the celebrations tonight.

  

• Viking Day

  On Thursday 18th November the Vikings visited St Leonard's CEP Academy.

  The children recreated a battle, enjoyed homemade soup, made arts and crafts and learnt about what it was like in Viking times!

  

• Year 1 Mallydams Trip

  Tue 16 Nov 2021

  Our lovely Year 1 children had a wonderful time at Mallydams this week. The children took part in an Autumn nature walk where they learnt about about the environment and the animals that inhabit it. 

  

• Stone Age Day at Kent Life

  Tue 16 Nov 2021

  The Year 3 children had a wonderful day at Kent Life. Whilst there, they had a wonderful time learning about the Stone Age.

  The children listened to staff about what life in the Stone Age was like.

  Children used tools, watched demonstrations and even met a caveman!
