Thu 30 Sep 2021 Mr White

Mr Davis popped into Year 2 this morning to look at some of the geography work they are doing.

He learned about the different continents and the impact humans are making in the rainforests.

Thank you to Morrigan, Bruno and Laurence for your amazing explanations.

  • Message from Tony Davis, new Chair of Governors

Fri 17 Sep 2021 Mr White

Message from Tony Davis, new Chair of Governors.

Hello to all the St Leonards CE Primary Academy family. My name is Tony Davis and I have recently been asked by DCAT to undertake the role of Chairperson of the Local Governing Board at the academy. This is something I am very excited  about and pleased to do.

Until recently I have been employed by a government department as a Regional Operations Manager so have experience of public service. During my working life I have also been involved in a trade union which gives me the ability to see both sides of an issue. Perhaps, however, the most important thing that I can bring to the academy is my experience as a school governor. I have for the past thirteen years been a Governor at St Paul's CE Academy and for 12 of those years have been the Chair of Governors. I do want to be clear that I understand that St Leonards is a different school with a different "feel" and I will ensure that I keep that clearly in view during my time here.

I have had the opportunity to see the school and meet the Senior Leadership Team and am impressed with the commitment and dedication to move the academy forward. Having spent some time with the staff, at a recent inset day, it is clear that they also have the same commitment and dedication towards providing the best possible outcomes for the children in our care. I hope that my leadership of the Local Governing Board will be seen as a positive step as we move forward together. The Local Governing Body have factored into the Academy Development Plan and will work towards being a robust and supportive part of the school leadership team and will be actively involved in sustaining the well-being of the children and the staff.

My vision is that Governance at St Leonards CE Academy should be open, transparent and approachable. I look forward to working with all the staff at the school and getting to know the children and their parents. My best wishes to you all for a successful school year.

    Kind Regards

    Tony Davis
