"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it" Proverb 22:6
Our "Stop the Bog" project is all about keeping our Forest School space accessible and enjoyable during the wet winter months by spreading woodchip on muddy areas. As this woodchip gradually breaks down, it enriches the soil with nutrients, benefiting plant growth and supporting a healthier ecosystem. This composting process also provides habitats for small wildlife, like insects and fungi, which in turn attract birds and other animals, enriching the local biodiversity. A special thanks goes to Luke Sayer, our local tree surgeon, for his generous donation of woodchip and new log seating, sourced from a local Lime tree that needed removal. This ongoing project is a wonderful example of how community collaboration can support both learning and the environment.
The children had a great time ferrying woodchip from the school site to Forest School and were rewarded with pancakes for their efforts.
