"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it" Proverb 22:6

Courageous Advocacy

At St Leonards, we believe it is important to address a range of current environmental issues in our Forest School sessions, to foster awareness and advocacy among our students. For instance: We teach children about the impact of plastic waste on wildlife and oceans. Students participate in litter-picking activities and learn how to reduce, reuse, and recycle to combat plastic pollution. Through hands-on activities like tree planting and maintaining woodland areas, we discuss the importance of forests and the effects of deforestation on global ecosystems. We involve students in planting wildflowers and creating bee-friendly habitats to encourage an increase in the bee population, which has begun to drop in recent years due to habitat loss and climate change. Each of these topics is woven into our Forest School curriculum to ensure students understand the importance of protecting our planet and are equipped to be courageous advocates for a sustainable future.
