"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it" Proverb 22:6

St Leonards Festival 9 & 10th July

St Leonards Festival festival kicks off at 12.30 pm with an opening ceremony performed by the Mayor of Hastings followed by a Grand Parade around Warrior Square and along the seafront. The Parade features majorettes, marching bands, local organisations and a vintage bus full of fish! There will be Schools marching in the opening parade too!

Alongside the grown up stuff they will have family events and happenings throughout the two days, including music, poetry, art, performances, a food market and the regular monthly St Leonards market.

Of special interest to you might be the events they are running for children:

· Promenade performance of Midsummer Night’s Dream in St Leonard’s Gardens
· Picture Hunt – with something to take home
· Ragged Trousers competition (with prizes)
· Puppetry performances throughout the two days
· Street Circus

On Sunday afternoon they will be having an interactive and boisterous reading of Lewis Carroll’s Hunting of the Snark, complete with prizes, aimed at children from 6 years upwards. (Carroll’s aunts lived in Hastings and he was a regular visitor).

They guarantee a fun weekend for all, regardless of the weather!
