Behaviour and Exclusions Policies

The law requires Academies to have a written behaviour policy. Ofsted reports that Academies are most effective where the behaviour policy is applied consistently. The behaviour policy at St. Leonards Academy helps to create a caring, stimulating and secure environment in which children and adults can learn safely and to encourage the involvement of parents and carers in the development of their child.

In support of our values and ethos we recognise God’s children at the heart of everything we do. We will only use exclusions when we consider it to be in the best interests of the individual and academy community. We are committed to supporting every pupil through our pastoral care and a variety of support strategies including wellbeing and behaviour professionals, individual interventions and outside agencies.
St Leonard’s Church of England Primary Academy works with schools and academies across Hastings to lower exclusion rates across the town. The academy is an active member of the Hasting Primary Placement Panel.
